Melt the ICE in Massachusetts before July 31!

July 22, 2026July 22, 2026

Joan Sebastian Guerrero, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, Renee Good, Alex Pretti – all killed at the hands of poorly trained, armed and masked ICE agents. Killed without due process, and without remorse. Will any residents of MA be added to this list? Is there anything we can do to protect our immigrant neighbors?

Through the PROTECT Act, our state can refuse to collaborate with federal civil immigration enforcement. But time is running out to pass this bill before the legislature adjourns on July 31!

Right now, a conference committee of MA legislators and representatives is meeting to negotiate the final version of this important legislation. You can phone or email them to urge them to pass the strongest possible version of the PROTECT Act as quickly as possible. They are:

Senate

President Karen Spilka617-722-1500karen.spilka@masenate.gov

Subject: Pass a strong PROTECT Act quickly
Dear Members of the Joint Conference Committee for the PROTECT Act: Senators
Friedman, Payano, and Fattman, Representatives Vargas, Vaughn and Cahill, and
Senate President Spilka and Speaker of the House Mariano,
We urge you to pass the strongest possible version of the PROTECT Act in the most
expeditious manner possible. Please do everything in your power to get this done. We
have come this far and are now counting on you to see this bill get to the Governor’s
desk for signature as soon as possible!
Our immigrant neighbors are living in terrible fear and deserve urgent passage of this
important legislation.
With gratitude for your support of immigrants and for the hard work you are doing to
make this legislation a reality,
(Sign: Your name, town, organizations (feel free to include WMILAN!))
